Once Upon A Paige
Paige Grant - Author
I write stories for kids and other people, with humor, vivid dialogue, real ethical conundrums and humanist inclinations.
I grew up in Asia and Washington D.C., went to college in the West, lived two years in a medieval village in Nepal with the Peace Corps. Eventually I settled in New Mexico, where I married, had kids, divorced and remarried, all the while putting in a career as a hydrologist and environmental activist. My favorite part of that work -- next to wading in rivers and hiking through forests -- was telling stories: explaining what was wrong and how to fix it. I've had a lifelong avocation of singing old, old songs, and it's the stories that hook me: crimes of passion, pride in one's work, longing for home, the fun of flirting in the May morning dew. Raising two kids in a TV-free household, Mowgli and Ratty, Jo March and Prince Caspian were personal friends, and on long drives we took turns making up a story, passing it off mid-sentence to the next raconteur. Nowadays I divide my time between writing and learning to farm, with time off for river trips and other adventures.
